Camera Kids

Would you like to introduce your children/grandchildren to photography, but have no idea how? Search no further! Camera Kids is a downloadable online course created by Life: Lived Photography.

The course contains videos, a guide for grown-ups, worksheets, practical activities, treasure hunts, and crafts – all aimed at teaching children the basics of using a camera: how to hold it properly, composition, basic rules, settings and how to use images for storytelling and something more.

This aims to be a fun, four-week course that you and your littles can do at your own pace. You will be able to download all course materials, and go through them in the way that best suits you and your child(ren). Each Unit has a Guide for Grown-Ups explaining everything covered and giving tips and ideas on how to explain concepts to them. A list of activities, crafts, and worksheets explaining to the children, and a video. There is also an on-going treasure hunt throughout the course for the children to complete – and their own booklet to collect their pictures!

This course is aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 9/10, who do not have much experience using a camera.

FAQs

Q: Do I need a fancy camera?

A: No. Absolutely not. I make some suggestions for cameras suitable for children, but an old point and shoot is more than enough, as is a phone camera!

Q: I don’t know anything about photography, how will I teach the kids?

A: Don’t worry. The basics are explained in the booklet and the video. You can easily have a read through and then, in turn, explain it to your child.
