Choosing a Branding Photographer – is it the Right Fit? | Life Lived Branding Lincolnshire

So, you have decided that you absolutely need some branding photos done. You have seen others in your business with their images, and now know you need to get them for yourself as well. That’s great! If you still aren’t convinced about getting personal branding photos done, then have a quick look at my previous blog here, then come back and read this!

Back? Perfect. Let’s move on…

So I was saying that you have finally made the decision to have these photos done for you, and now you need to know what the next step is. Read on to see what you need to look for in a photographer, to make sure you have the best session possible – because this will show up in your images, trust me!

First things first – you need someone who will let your individuality shine through. Your prospective clients will want to see you – the person behind the business, and they need to see how you truly are! If you are a boho loving, barefoot dancer in the fields, there is no point in having images of you in a suit inside an office building, and vice versa. So, start by looking through a photographer’s social media and website to check that their portfolio of images showcases their subjects, because if you can feel their personality shine through the images, then your clients will too!

The next thing to look at, and closely related to the first, is that you and your potential photographer are on the same wavelength – are you thinking the same things? Does the photographer’s style fit with yours? Do you feel, from looking at their work and reading their posts, that you would get along well?

This is super essential, because the next thing I am going to discuss is making sure you are comfortable. You need to feel at ease during your session! If you are terrified, uncomfortable and doing things you don’t like to do, then it will show. You can see if they have any behind the scenes videos online, or  talk to the photographer – don’t be afraid to call, or send an email if you prefer. Ask them about how a session usually works – will you be asked to pose? Do they only shoot in studio? Outdoors? In your workspace? Are they more formal, fashion, documentary or lifestyle? How would they document you and your business? Do the answers make you feel at ease? Something off?

If you are nearly there and feel they might be for you but still need some convincing, start looking at reviews. How have people rated them, their service? Have your friends or colleagues used them? Do they recommend? Have there been any problems?

If everything is looking A-OK then you are almost there. The last thing (or first thing depending on your budget) that you need to look at is Pricing. Do they fit with your budget? Are they insured? What’s included in their package? How fast is the turnaround? Do they help you to prepare? Is it too cheap? Is it too costly?

We are all working so hard and, especially nowadays, every penny is precious and you need to be sure you are investing it in the right way for you.

I hope this has helped you in your research for the right personal branding photographer!
