About

family_photographer_lincoln_about_meAbout me? First fact: this is by far the part of my website I hate doing the most, but I will give it a try.

My name is Elora, and I am an all singing and dancing ninja mamma who happens to also be a citizen of the world. I was born and raised in Canada, moved to Italy, where I married my husband and adopted a cat, and then moved to the UK (with cat in tow) – first to Derby, then to Lincoln – where I had my two beautiful miracles, Emma and Aurora.

I love lots of things, a brief list being:

  • cats
  • my kids
  • my hubby
  • fantasy and sci-fi (in any format)
  • cooking and its delicious consequence, eating
  • nature
  • sushi
  • upcycling
  • chocolate
  • reading
  • travelling
  • talking (a lot, apparently)
  • dragons

and of course, photography. I fell into photography quite by accident, way back in the day before digital. It was part of an art course in my last year of high school, and I just felt like I had finally found my passion, and my art. I spent many afternoons playing in the dark room and discovering its secrets. From that moment on, a camera has come with me no matter where in the world I was. I documented my Italian adventures and my daily life through my camera, my own story for myself.

And then I had children and I found a whole new reason to keep taking those images – I had memories to create for my girls, their story to tell, to share with them when they are older and they can’t possibly remember these early years of their lives. Then some friends asked me to photograph their families, and I felt amazing – it was what I was supposed to do – so I did.

I began training, studying and practising, and here we are!

I experimented with varying types of photography, but in the end, I kept coming back to two styles, both closely related – outdoor portraits, and documentary family storytelling – and this is why I have decided to specialist in these two fields.

We only have one life, and are constantly writing our own ever-evolving story, so why not help capture that chapter, and the many more to come?
